When you combine holiday cheer with a team known for thinking outside of the box, you never know what sort of creativity might occur. This year, the Ameritex team got in the holiday spirit with a 12-foot-tall cardboard Christmas tree and a very special toy drive.

Read on to find out how they did it.

Ameritex’s Cardboard Christmas Tree

The cardboard Christmas tree was made out of 1,000 sq. ft. of packing paper and stands 12 feet tall and 8 feet wide. A team of three worked for over a week-and-a-half building a wooden frame to support the structure. Then, six panels of corrugated paper formed the base. To fill out the branches, the helpers created a large format flower applique from paper pads used for protecting furniture while moving. These flowers were then glued to the corrugated cardboard base.

But that’s not all. The team also wove strings of 2,200 white lights within the tree, creating an illuminating effect with invisible wires. As a finishing touch, packing peanut snow covers the ground and hangs like snowflakes from fishing wire about the tree.

This was the end result:

Box of Love Toy Drive

All of those presents under the tree went to a fantastic cause.

Every year, Ameritex Movers has a White Elephant gift exchange at its company holiday party. However, this year, the Houston movers changed things up. Instead of bringing a gift to give and steal, everyone brought a toy to donate to students at Mahanay Elementary for the Box of Love Toy Drive.

Ameritex Movers delivered more than 100 gifts to the elementary students, leaving them with an exciting surprise.

Beth Rohani, co-owner of Ameritex Movers, said this was the beginning of a new holiday tradition. Every adult at Mahanay that day had tears in their eyes.

“We have had our business for the past 17 years and are very involved in our community, but this was one of the most incredible moments I’ve experienced during the time we’ve owned our company,” Rohani said.

The Ameritex team wishes you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and joyful holiday season!
