Supporting Houston Food Bankโs Mission
The Houston Food Bank serves as a lifeline for families facing food insecurity. As the largest food bank in the Feeding America network, it coordinates with over 600 hunger relief organizations across Houston and its surrounding areas. Each year, the Houston Food Bank delivers approximately 59 million meals to soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and more.
Our partnership allows us to be involved in several of these initiatives. Our teams actively volunteer their time, energy, and resources to support the food bankโs operations. By working together, weโre able to help the organization reach even more people in need.
Helping Houstonโs Children: BackPack Meals
One of our proudest contributions is our role in the BackPack Meal Program. Each week, Ameritex Movers helps deliver over 10,000 BackPack meals to school-aged children in Houston and surrounding cities. This program ensures that children who might otherwise go hungry have access to nutritious meals during the school year.
By delivering these meals, weโre helping the Houston Food Bank provide stability and support to young students, allowing them to focus on their education rather than where their next meal will come from.
Volunteering at Food Drives
In addition to our work with BackPack meals, Ameritex Movers actively participates in local food drives. A recent highlight was our involvement in the M.D. Anderson Food Drive, where we collected and delivered over 25,000 pounds of non-perishable food to the Houston Food Bank.
Weโve also supported events like the Houston Food Bankโs annual Canstruction event and food drives at Houston Dynamo games, where our team worked alongside other volunteers to gather donations for families in need.
