Journey Church encourages individuals to “come as you are” to its contemporary service each Sunday. A Spanish service is also available.
Katy Catholic Churches
The city of Katy has a thriving Catholic community. Each of these churches has its own fascinating history.
St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church has been around over 50 years. As the largest Catholic church in Katy, membership is now over 4,700 families.
St. Edith Stein Catholic Church is an activities-driven church with ministries for the whole family. Some examples of its events are retreats, a Ladies’ Guild, and a Spanish prayer group.
Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church was established in 1981 to help alleviate the overcrowding of St. Bartholomew’s. The church has continued to grow since then, and it now boasts a family center, an activity center, an outreach center, and a soon-to-be-open school.
First Baptist Church and Other Denominational Churches
Baptists, Lutherans, and Methodists have an established presence in Katy. Below is a sampling of each denomination:
First Baptist Church is a mid-sized establishment that emphasizes worshiping as one church family. A Korean service is also available.
Second Baptist Church is a hugely popular church in Katy. Renowned authors and pastors Dr. Ed Young and Gary Thomas are leaders at this megachurch with an emphasis on small group Bible study and activities for youth.
Living Word Lutheran Church is a diverse church that welcomes all believers. Its four Sunday services — traditional and contemporary — follow a standard Lutheran liturgy.
Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church has three campuses that offer traditional, contemporary, and Spanish services. Complimentary coffee and treats are available Sunday mornings in its bookstore, Holy Grounds Coffee Shop, which also provides free Wifi.
