The Bayer Industrial Park is the largest of Bayer’s U.S. chemical processing sites producing a variety of petrochemical products. The Cedar Bayou plant, in operation since 1963, is Chevron Phillips Chemical’s largest manufacturing site in the United States is a newer and growing industrial district which is quickly acquiring new tenants such as Jindal Steel and Power Limited and Samson Controls. However, as boring as the industrialization aspect may sound, this city is actually pretty cool – since it’s located on Galveston Bay. Yes, that’s the place with a lot of water recreation to enjoy, sailing, fishing, and whatnot. There are also many other attractions in the city that make it non-boring such as the San Jacinto Battleground, the Historical Museum, the Bayland Park Marina, and the Battleship TEXAS. There is a place in the area known as The Little Theater that is a community theater run entirely by volunteers. The theater has been in operation for 56 years (as of 2016) and is one of the longest continuously running community theaters in the state of Texas. The theater typically produces six shows each year from September to August, with each show giving seven performances. If you’re into golf, there is the Evergreen Point Gold Course to indulge yourself in or you can simply enjoy the Galveston Island beaches.
