Halloween is just a week and a half away, which means it’s time for you DIYers to get started on your homemade costumes. We love finding new uses of common moving and packing supplies, and making a unique Halloween costume design is a great one!
In fact, Fox 26 Houston was kind enough to invite us over to the morning news today to show off some of our cardboard couture designs. We wanted to inspire some Halloween costume ideas and invite the community to a special event this weekend. (Also, we may or may not have wrapped Reporter Rita Garcia in shrink wrap!)
Costume Design at the Children’s Museum
Last month, we partnered with the Children’s Museum of Houston to host Trolls on a Roll, an event where children in the local community had fun at the museum designing their own troll costumes out of recyclable moving materials like cardboard, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, and more. After creating their wearable artwork, the little designers marched down the runway to model their work.
Watch the video below to see some of the kids’ impressive fashion designs.
We had so much with Trolls on a Roll that we couldn’t wait to do another fashion workshop at the Children’s Museum.
This Saturday, Oct. 21, we are partnering with the museum once again to bring the Houston community a recyclable fashion workshop event. This time, we’re focusing on Halloween costume design. All are welcome to participate as we create spooky fashion out of moving materials and strut down the runway at the Frightening Fashion Show.
The event will take place in the Brown Auditorium starting at 11 a.m. We’ll have 10 minutes to design with a runway show immediately after. We’ll have new workshops every 20 minutes until 12:40 p.m. We can’t wait to see the creepy and cute costumes our designers come up with.
At Ameritex Movers, we love being involved in the community and finding new ways to make a positive impact. Please reach out to our team for partnership opportunities.
